Frequently asked questions
Are children allowed aboard?
Yes, children are very welcome over the age of 12, or younger if they have previous experience.
Are there any discounts?
Sorry, due completely to fuel cost rises we now do no discounts at all.
Do I have to book the whole boat (for 12 people)?
No. Single bookings are accepted however a minimum of 5 people are required to run a trip. Please refer to the available dates page to check how many places are available and try to choose a day where places have already been booked.
Will we be fishing for the whole period booked?
No, the time you book is for the total time aboard including sailing to and returning from our fishing destination for the day. These times will vary depending on weather, tide, time of year and fishing conditions. If in doubt, please ask.
What if I‘m late?
Unfortunately we would normally have to leave without you and any money paid in advance cannot be refunded except in exceptional circumstances. Please read our terms before booking. The tide will not wait for you and if there are others on the trip it would be unfair to shorten their trip.
Do I need to be experienced?
Not at all, nearly all of our customers are totally new to angling and we will show you what to do as the day progresses.
Do you supply rods, reels and bait?
We can supply rods, tackle and bait for £10 extra. See prices and loss/breakage surcharge here.
What footwear is best?
You should wear completely waterproof shoes or boots, or even in the warmer weather, sandals or flip-flops / beach shoes. Your feet will almost certainly get wet so for your own comfort don't wear shoes that will stay wet all day.
Anything else I should bring?
We suggest you bring a pack of wet-wipes / baby wipes as our fresh water capacity is limited and we need it to wash up and make tea.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No. We no longer require a deposit, please pay in cash when you board.
Do you take debit / credit card payments?
Unfortunately we do not have the facility to accept debit/credit card payments over the phone or in person. Please pay in cash on the day.
How do I book a trip?
Information we need to take a booking:
- the name(s) of the person(s) coming on the trip
- an emergency contact telephone number, in case of cancellation, due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances. (we may need to contact you the day before your trip.)
How many people can you carry aboard?
We carry a maximum of 12 people in comfort. There are ample fishing stations on deck and dining space inside and on picnic benches on the deck.
How much does a trip cost?
From £40 upwards depending on duration. See our trips page for individual prices, or contact us to arrange a bespoke trip, price on application.
What happens if we are Sea Sick?
Unfortunately due to tidal constraints of Scarborough, on our longer trips we cannot return to shore until the next tide. We do however offer seasick tablets on board.
Do we keep our catch?
Yes you keep your catch, as long as it is of legal size, except Tope and female skate from April to May. Tope are a protected species. We voluntarily do not allow you to keep female skate during April and May as they are carrying eggs.
