The boat
Crusader is a wooden-hulled ex-fishing boat with a length of 17.29m and breadth of 5.25m. She has a substantial and distinctive wheelhouse and galley midships.
Built to operate as a working fishing boat she is extremely solid. If you have previously fished at sea from a smaller boat you will appreciate the difference the moment you step aboard Crusader.
Coded for 12 passengers, Crusader is able to stay at sea for up to 24 hours and can work up to 60 miles from safe haven. Together with skipper Richard Wright we are ideally placed to take you wreck fishing and tope fishing.
The well-equipped galley, with hot plates, microwave and tea urn is a welcome facility on those cooler days at sea, and hot tea is supplied free all day as required. Of course we have a toilet aboard too.
On deck we have two picnic-style benches for seating.
The engine is a Gardner 8L3B 230hp unit, a powerful and reliable workhorse of an engine that is well suited to a boat of this size.
Richard Wright
Richard is an experienced fisherman who had skippered trawlers since 1979. Originally from Norfolk, he has spent his life at sea and there is little he doesn't know about fish and the North Sea.
Friendly and approachable, he is very happy to share his knowledge and even if you've never fished before you will soon get started with his help.
Crusader was in a sorry state when Richard acquired her. Recognising her remarkable build-quality, he knew she was worth working for, so embarked on a labour of love to almost single-handedly restore her to seagoing condition over the course of a year.
Now Crusader and Richard are ready to take you for an unforgettable fishing trip from the beautiful resort of Scarborough.
We look forward to welcoming you aboard.
